Full-Time Physician - Educator, Adult Medicine (Manhattan)

Reports to: Chief of Internal Medicine, Manhattan and Medical Director of Education and Training

The Physician - Educator, Adult Medicine, provides evidence-based holistic primary care in an urban practice noted for quality and advancing health equity (60-70%). The incumbent will teach and supervise nurse practitioners and teach other staff of different educational levels (30-40%).  In addition, the opportunity to create new curricula, teaching methods, and link to educational institutions. There will be no in-patient responsibility, rotating schedule for after-hours phone coverage, weekends required at weekend pay rate.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

PRACTICE

  • Responsible for the medical care of a panel of adult patients
  • Participate in all activities necessary to support the health and healthcare of patients
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities of the Health Center and the Internal Medicine service to improve the health of patients, including peer review, medical and regulatory education, and risk management training
  • Meet minimum productivity targets
  • Maintain medical privileges and credentialing
  • Obtain and maintain privileges at a local hospital

EDUCATION

  • Supervise and teach nurse practitioners, nursing staff and medical students
  • Create curriculum content, hold case conferences and teaching discussions
  • Work with Chiefs and Director of Medical Education to set educational goals and timelines
  • Obtain academic standing at a medical school
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and licensed to practice in New York State
  • Certification or eligible for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine, American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
  • Experience teaching students, residents or nurse practitioners
  • Ability to speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Spanish or other languages a plus

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Full-Time Base Salary: $180,000.00 - 220,000.00 per year
